Our Story, God’s Glory

At St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, our mission is to seek and serve Christ, honoring Him through outreach to our neighbors, our community, and the world by supporting and participating in our ministries.

Located in the historic village of Clifford, Virginia, we are a vibrant and inclusive congregation within the Episcopal Diocese of Southwestern Virginia. Our Sunday worship services begin at 9:30 AM, followed by a warm coffee hour in the parish hall. For those unable to attend in person, we offer live-streamed services via Zoom.

Our community is active in various ministries, including supporting Habitat for Humanity, providing free community dinners, and engaging in music and arts programs. We also host annual events like the Holiday Cookie Walk and Bazaar, fostering fellowship and outreach. We invite you to join us in worship, service, and community as we grow together in faith and love.

Our Historic Pipe Organ

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is home to a beautifully restored 1872 tracker organ, crafted by renowned builders E. & G.G. Hook and Hastings. Originally located in churches and schools across New Hampshire and Massachusetts, the organ found its way to St. Mark’s in 2009 through the efforts of Fr. James Hubbard and the church organist.

This historic pipe organ features seven ranks across two manuals and a pedal, with rich, authentic tones perfectly suited to our intimate worship space. Restoration work was led by expert Thomas Rohlfs of Rohlfs Pipe Organ Services, who praised the instrument’s exceptional quality and preservation.

We invite you to experience the beauty of this 19th-century organ during our Sunday services—where tradition, music, and community come together in worship.

Special thanks to Melissa Sutherland for contributing to this history
